Faster inspection data on the truck and sync you can recover
Pioneer Desktop 9.7 opens large local libraries from an on-disk database, keeps the sync dialog open with live progress and per-inspection retries, brings the dockable review layout to the truck, carries inspection tags from the field to the cloud, and adds an experimental laser ring readout.
A truck that has worked a full season carries thousands of inspection folders on local disk, and every one of them has to survive the trip to the cloud. Pioneer Desktop 9.7 rebuilds the three parts of that workflow crews touch most: opening the local library, finishing a sync, and keeping tags attached along the way.
Local inspections open from a database
Field Inspections used to re-scan every folder on disk each time you opened the page, then re-read each video to get its duration. On a truck with a large local library, that meant waiting through the whole scan before the list appeared. The page now reads from an on-disk database and re-checks only the folders that changed since last time. Crews with thousands of local inspections get the list on open.
Sync you can watch and retry
The upload dialog used to close as soon as sync started, and it marked every inspection uploaded before a single byte moved. A sync that failed still looked complete, and operators had no way to send it again. The dialog now stays open with live progress, and an inspection counts as uploaded only after its bytes land. Failed inspections stay on the list with their upstream and downstream manhole, the reason the upload failed, and a Retry button. Sync runs in the background, so you can close the window and track it from the sidebar.
The dockable review layout comes to the truck
Review and recording on the truck now use the same dockable panel layout as the web app. Operators drag the video, observation table, and header into the arrangement that suits the job, and the truck remembers it. Reset Layout in the page menu puts the default arrangement back. Reviewing a truck-local inspection hides the Ratings, Tasks, and Snapshots panels, which hold no data for a local inspection.
Tags stay attached from truck to cloud
Operators tag local inspections on the truck without a connection, and those tags show on the Field Inspections table. Pulling an inspection down from the cloud brings its tags with it. Tag a job in the field, upload it, and office staff filter on that tag without typing it again.
IBAK SoftControls records in the recorder pane
The IBAK SoftControls video recorder opens inside the recorder pane instead of a separate floating window the operator has to keep in view. The recorder stays above other windows while a recording is armed, and a Cancel Recording button lets an operator back out before recording starts.
Laser ring profiling (experimental)
Crews assessing pipe deformation have measured diameter by eye and typed it in. Pioneer Desktop 9.7 adds a laser ring readout that measures the projected ring while the crawler moves, so the number comes off the frame instead of an estimate.
A bar above the preview shows live diameter, confidence, and ovality, along with a running average and variance across the last 15 readings that clear a confidence floor. Calibrate once by clicking two points across a known distance and entering its real length, and the readout switches from pixels to real units that follow the truck's metric setting. Named calibrations save to the truck for reuse on later jobs with the same camera.
Two actions put the measurement into the record. Pullback logs an MGO marking the start of a laser pullback. MGO logs the current diameter, ovality, and confidence into the observation remarks. When a calibration is active, the average has settled, and the inspection header has no diameter, Pioneer offers to fill Height and Width from that average.
Laser ring profiling is experimental and stays off until you turn it on. Set "Enable Laser Ring Profiling (Experimental)" to Yes in Truck Settings. Camera zoom invalidates an active calibration, so recalibrate after any zoom change.
Improvements7›
- TruckField Inspections loads from an on-disk database instead of re-scanning every folder, so trucks with large local libraries open the page without waiting on a full scan.
- TruckThe sync dialog stays open with live progress, lists failed inspections with the reason they failed and a Retry button, and marks an inspection uploaded only once its bytes have landed.
- TruckReview and recording use the dockable panel layout from the web app, with Reset Layout in the page menu to restore the default arrangement.
- TruckReviewing a truck-local inspection no longer shows the Ratings, Tasks, and Snapshots panels, which hold no data for a local inspection.
- TruckTag local inspections on the truck while offline, see those tags on the Field Inspections table, and pull cloud inspections down with their tags attached.
- TruckThe IBAK SoftControls video recorder opens in the recorder pane, stays above other windows while a recording is armed, and can be cancelled before recording starts.
- TruckTruck Settings flags unsaved changes with a banner and its own Save button, and reports progress when saving and rebuilding.
Experimental3›
- TruckLaser ring profiling adds a readout bar above the recorder preview with live diameter, confidence and ovality, plus a running average across recent readings. Turn on "Enable Laser Ring Profiling (Experimental)" in Truck Settings to try it.
- TruckCalibrate the laser readout by measuring a known distance on the frame to convert it to real units, save named calibrations for reuse, and fill the inspection's Height and Width from a steady average.
- TruckLog the start of a laser pullback, or the current diameter, ovality and confidence, into an observation from the readout bar.
Performance1›
- TruckFixed duplicate serial polling loops building up while recording, which had caused distance timeouts and lag on the recorder screen.
Fixes13›
- TruckFixed a crash on startup with Sensoray capture devices, which had also caused the truck to fall back to the internal webcam.
- TruckIBAK SoftControls now launches regardless of where it is installed.
- TruckFixed local recorded videos failing to play back in the truck.
- TruckLocal recordings now return to Field Inspections after review.
- TruckFixed locally added tags not appearing and locally removed tags still showing on Field Inspections for inspections pulled from the cloud.
- TruckFixed local videos larger than 2 GB failing to attach for cloud sync.
- InspectionsFixed "Prefilled from Previous" carrying the previous inspection's upstream and downstream Rim to Invert values onto a new PACP inspection.
- TruckFixed the app hanging on the loading screen when the server returned an error during sign-in.
- TruckFixed sidebar navigation in the truck app.
- TruckThe IBAK video recorder now follows the truck's metric setting, restoring lateral and section distances on metric trucks.
- TruckCopied links from the truck app now point at pioneer.sewerai.com instead of the app's local address, so shared timestamps open for the people you send them to.
- InspectionsTabbing into a filled number in the Observation Table selects the value again, so typing replaces it instead of appending to it.
- TruckRestored the record button pulse animation while a recording is in progress.
